Gulf Coast Golfing

Pensacola Bay Area visitors are given the luxury of choosing between nearly a dozen PGA-rated golf courses with 180 holes of picturesque scenes from woodlands to wetlands. Offering public and semiprivate courses, the destination provides challenges for even the most seasoned golf enthusiast.

Local Legends

The Pensacola Bay Area is home to numerous golf legends. Bubba Watson, Heath Slocum and Boo Weekley all attended Milton High School and are active on the PGA tour. Jerry Pate, 1976 U.S. Open Champion, resides in Pensacola and designs golf courses around the world and at home. Joe Durant ranks in the top 100 in Career Earnings on the PGA Tour.

Stunning Courses

Lost Key Golf Club, an 18-hole Arnold Palmer Signature Design Course, was the first in the world to be certified as an Audubon International Silver Signature Sanctuary. Located in Perdido Key, Lost Key offers overnight accommodations and breakfast, lunch and dinner in the clubhouse.

Marcus Pointe Country Club is located on 600 acres of picturesque woodlands, and has been named a “great value” by Golf Digest subscribers. This 18-hole course features five sets of tees and subtle challenges, making it highly enjoyable for the widest range of golfing skills.

Osceola Municipal Golf Course is an 18-hole course open from daylight to dark, every day of the year except for Christmas Day. Newly renovated in 2011, their green fees average around $30, which includes a cart. Updates include a remodeled restaurant, complete with a new menu, along with the new construction of the practice-range area.

A.C. Read, a picturesque course beneath live oaks on Bayou Grande, is open to all active and retired military. The course is on Naval Air Station Pensacola, and offers 27 championship holes with an additional 18-hole executive course.

Perdido Bay Golf Club was named best new course by Golf Digest when it opened several years ago, and was the site of the Pensacola Open for 10 years The course offers overnight accommodations at Cottages on the Green. Legends Bar & Grille offers a diverse menu with a full bar and is open for breakfast and lunch seven days a week and Friday night dinner. Be on the lookout for their two resident alligators!

Scenic Hills Country Club is not your average Florida golf course. Known for rolling hills, stately pines lining the fairways, elevation changes and striking views that are unusual for a Florida golf course, this course boasts the best greens and course conditions in the Panhandle.

Tiger Point Golf Club is located on the shores of beautiful Santa Rosa Sound, and features 27 championship holes. After hitting the liks, dine at the Sunset Grille, where you can enjoy local seafood prepared to perfection.

Cypress Lakes Golf Club paints a beautiful picture in the spring, when over 300 crepe myrtles and 500 azaleas are in bloom. This course is more mountainous than you would expect to find in Pensacola, which presents a welcome challenge to more avid golfers. Hitting the Town

The guys can party in two states at once at the legendary Flora-Bama Lounge, and partake in plenty of people-watching right on the Gulf of Mexico in Perdido Key. Friends can also have a hearty meal of steak and ale at McGuire’s Irish Pub, where $1 million in one-dollar bills are tacked to the ceilings and walls. Pensacola Bay Brewery makes its own handcrafted beer including local favorites such as the Riptide Amber. Vinyl Music Hall brings in up-and-coming musicians, singer/songwriters and old favorites, while the Portofino Boardwalk makes for a fun evening on Pensacola Beach with many waterfront options and live music.
